Google PageRank: Not Worth The Worry

Pemilu Indonesia 2009 I notice that a lot of webmasters are obsessed with Google PageRank (Entire sections of SEO forums are even devoted to PR). Web sites do not live and die by their PageRank. A PR 6 web site may rank lower than a site with a PR 5 due to other Search Engine Optimization factors. Search engine results are not proportional to a web site's PageRank value.

The PageRank value is a representation of a web site's internal and external link structure. Internally, your web site's pages should be easily accessible from each other and use anchor text relevant to the theme of the web site. Externally speaking, outbound links should be good quality and/or relevant to your web site's content. And finally, it is widely known that incoming links also contribute quite a bit to PageRank. There is obviously much more to achieving good search engine rankings that the above linking strategies.

With that being said, many webmasters become obsessed with the PageRank of their web sites and consider it to be the bottom line of any search engine marketing campaign. This type of thinking can cloud a much more important issue of whether or not the client has seen an improvement in search engine placement and web site traffic. Always base your achievements on specific rankings for keywords that have been well-researched. If you go parading around about achieving a PageRank of 6 for your client, he or she won't care if they aren't seeing a return on their investment, now will they?

If you're working to increase your link popularity through reciprocal links and refuse to link to web sites that are lower than PR 5, rethink your strategy. Well-designed, well-ranked sites with informative content are always a safe bet to link out to. That was my basic strategy with a client of mine, www.1bbweb.com.

They have a PageRank 4 (at the time of writing this article, January 2005) and rank at #6 on Google for 'bed and breakfast directory' (without quotes). The #7 result has a PR 6 and the next three spots in the first page of results are PR 5 web sites, all higher than my client. This example is repeated throughout the Web and proves that preoccupying yourself with PageRank can result in losing sight of more important ranking factors. Kampanye Damai Pemilu Indonesia 2009

What is PageRank ?

Kampanye Damai Pemilu Indonesia 2009 : What is Pagerank? - Pagerank is based on how many links to one website. PageRank is a value that represents how important a page is on the web. Robots or Spiders figures that when one page links to another page, it is casting a vote for the other page. Also the importance of the page that is casting the vote determines how important the vote is. It matters because it is one of the most important factors that determines a page's ranking in the search results but It isn't the only factor that Search engines uses to rank pages. Not all links are counted by Search engines. Some links can cause a site to be penalized by Search engines.

Internal linking - Internal linking also plays a factor in the High Page Rank of the pages within a site. The linking structure within the site should follow the themed approach to internal linking, which stresses importance on minimizing linking between 2nd and 3rd level directories and pages. Example - The homepage has a PageRank of 5. You link your homepage that has a PageRank of 5, to other web pages on your site, which will in turn have a PR of 3 or 4. Now, you link all of the secondary pages that have a PR of 4 to the tertiary pages that will in turn have a PR of 3.

External Linking - External linking is the biggest factor in determining a web sites PageRank. Increasing your PageRank is very difficult, but important. The actual amount of effect that Search engines PageRank has on the ranking of a website or web pages is debated, but what we do know is that a web page's PR does play a big role in Google's indexing and Google's ranking.

The higher a web page's PageRank, the more frequently it will be crawled and refreshed. While in most cases, a higher PR will accompany a higher-ranking site; it is not always the case. PageRank is a pretty complex mathematical calculation, but can be broken down into a simple version. Kampanye Damai

PageRank is Google's scoring of Page 1. This scoring is based on the links that point to Page 1, and certain variables within the pages that the links come from. 1 link from Page 2 is held as a vote for Page 1, and if Page 2 has a high PageRank, this will is taken into account and will have a positive effect when calculating the Page Rank of Page 1. If Page 2, 3, and 4, all link to Page 1, but Page 2, 3, and 4 all have a PageRank of 3, then this will be taken into account when calculating the web page's PageRank. In the second situation, the pages with low PageRank's that link to Page 1 will not affect Page 1's PageRank in a negative effect, but also will not affect it in a positive way. Simple Way to Get High Pagerank

Everyone knows that if your website has a high Google Pagerank, you have all chances to reach good search engine positions, to get serious partners, or simply get more money selling text links.

But how to get a high Pagerank? (Let's clarify: saying ‘high Pagerank', we mean at least PR6)

Of course there are many different ways. You may start exchanging links with PR1-2 websites, then with PR2-3, then with PR3-4 etc… and after a year of this madness you'll probably get a result. But till that time, your mailbox will burst from tons of “link exchange proposals” and your website will look more like a free-for-all directory. Or you may start writing articles adding your website URL in the bottom, but not everyone can do this, and it'll also require many months of efforts.

But here's the better way!

There are many websites with strong search engine positions and high Pagerank, where you can buy text links for a certain fee. Depending on the strength of a website and the value of its links, it may cost from $10 to $3000 (and more) for a ROS (run-of-site) text link. Everything will depend on your budget and goals. If your goal is PR6 - it may cost for example $200 per month to reach it. Yes, it's not cheap, but it's only the first step…

So, you go ahead and buy the link(s); and after the next Pagerank update (generally once a month), you get your fair PR6 (let's suppose that it takes 1 month and $200).

During the second month you need to hurry up, and to organize several link exchange campaigns with other PR6 (or even PR7) websites. Remember: you're not a newbie any more - you're “PR6 website”.

3-5 campaigns should be enough. This month will also cost you $200… BUT… after the end of the month, when you have several working link exchange campaigns, you simply stop buying text links and wait for the next update.

If you made everything correctly, you will not loose your Pagerank (maybe even increase it).

So here's the simple way to reach PR6 for quite reasonable price. Or course $400 may be a big amount for a young webmaster or a newbie. But it'll save you from many months of exhausting work, from headaches; and it'll save your time. Finally, you'll also be able to sell your own text links in order to return your investments.

Good luck.
